Apple Caramel Dump Cake

Inspired by Linda Watkins (Snay)

The recipe is from The Good Housekeeping Illustrated Cookbook.  The only reason it is in such good shape is because this is a new one.  The duct tape work out on the first one.

Substitutions:  I didn't have cloves so I used an equal amount of ginger.  Also my mom always pu pepper in her spice cakes so I added 1/8 teaspoon pepper.

In a 13x9 inch pan layer the following:See picture 2
1 tart apple, skin on, cored, chopped fine (1/4" pieces)
1 quart sweetened applesauce
1/2 cup caramel drizzled on applesauce (I had store bought but 20 caramel candies mixed with 3T water heated slowly over hot water will work)

Then I made the spice cake (see picture 1 for recipe) with the substitutions listed.  Pour on top of cake.

Bake 350 degree oven Time: 45 - 50 minutes

Cool and enjoy.
